Energy efficiency, this is a term we always hear when we talk about eco-friendly stuff. Energy efficiency is different from energy saving, it is something that we should consider when we build a house, building, a machine, or any other type of system. - A lot of different organizations and government alliances that are providing energy efficiency standards, codes, and labels in the vast area of energy efficiency. There are also university labs and departments that are also involved in energy efficiency since the 1970s such as the Berkeley Labs.
- The Energy Star Program is also involved in energy efficiency when it comes to products and homes. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a voluntary independent program that provides certifications of Green buildings. Having green buildings can save the environment since these buildings helps contribute the reduction of CO2 emissions.

- Adapting the use of energy efficient tech can indirectly reduce CO2 emissions in the environment. This can be achieved in various ways such as using energy efficient light bulbs or appliances in your home. Keep in mind that enabling energy efficiency needs an initial capital investment first, which will lead to lower operating expenses in the long run which can result to a positive effect on the cash flow of any company. Not only that, being energy efficient can also contribute to slow down the effects of climate change.

- There are several tax credit program that helps promote energy efficiency. These programs or organizations provides tax credit for energy efficient homes and commercial buildings. The Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit Program offers incentives from energy savers which results to water heaters, air conditioners, boilers, windows and roofs. The tax credit can be also applied for home improvement as well, replacing old system and appliances to energy saving ones.
Energy Efficiency Resource Standards (EERS)
- The Energy Efficiency Resource Standards (EERS) aims to make everyone be energy efficient. The standards apply to any utilities that involved energy such as electricity and natural gas utilities. To sum it all up, the EERS basically treat energy efficiency as a resource.
Energy efficiency is a must to save the environment. This is why everyone of us should take advantage of energy efficiency as it doesn’t only help our household or companies, it also helps our eco system as well by reducing the emissions of Green House Gases (GHG).
